Hi, my friend! So… have you had plenty of fun at your Thanksgiving table last night? Did you use any of my Tools to help you Guiltlessly Indulge? 🙂 But even if you DIDN’T… QUITE… PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to your fullness levels at that beautiful Holiday Table… It’s OK! Yes, it is! And you know why? Because there’re also tools for reversing the “damage” and smashing down that unnecessary guilt the very next day!
And just in case you haven’t been following me and wondering if I’ll be telling you to do a 5-hour cardio workout now… Let me tell you this: NO, DO NOT do the 5-hour workout! (I mean… I’ll never tell you NOT to workout! It’s good to workout. But only until the point when it stops FEELING GOOD! After that point you can hurt yourself and that’s NOT HEALTHY at all!) Instead I’ll tell you that if you really want to smash down those pounds and that guilt today, you should enjoy some… DESSERT! 🙂
This was my breakfast today: blueberries, apples, hot tea and the Chocolate Marshmallow Dessert! Super-Indulgent!
Um… I know, now you’re thinking that I’ve gone completely insane! 🙂 …But hopefully you won’t be thinking that anymore once you find out that the dessert that I’m telling you to enjoy is a 25-calorie, Healthy, High-Protein (it provides your 10% DV in protein and 2% DV in Iron!) and All-Natural (no protein-powders!), Indulgent Chocolate Dessert that you can fearlessly have for breakfast!Yes. Because you NEED to start your day with the breakfast! And also because you DON’T NEED to punish yourself just because you had a little bit too much fun with your food last night! Because you know what will happen if you do? You’ll feel so terrible and out of control that you may slip again next time you’re up for a big dinner! Why? The reverse psychology! If you think that you can ONLY overeat a few times a year and you’ll never-ever-ever do this to yourself in-between… Then you WILL overeat at those big dinners! (That’s what was happening to me until I’ve figured it out!)
But if you free yourself and think that YOU are in control of what happens no matter what – you’ll pay more attention to your levels of satiety and will only enjoy yourself till the moment when you feel that you AREN’T enjoying yourself anymore! No, really… It worked for me!
And here it is…
The Indulgent, Fudgy, Healthy Chocolate Marshmallow Dessert!
…That’s totally OK to eat when you feel like you need to lose some extra pounds! Made with my favorite egg whites with an addition of some healthy and indulgent cocoa powder, it’s decadence in its best! When I want to make my dessert really skinny I like using Erythritol instead of the sugar. It’s similar to Stevia, only in its granular form it doesn’t land the Stevia’s bitterly aftertaste… I consider this sugar-subsititue safe and healthy, although I wouldn’t ever give it to my kids (not like they may be worried about those extra pounds! 🙂 )
You can also use the good-old sugar and because to make this dessert taste great you only need a few teaspoons, this tiny amount of it won’t break your calorie bank! I put the calorie content for both Erythritol-based and the Sugar-based versions in the end of this posts.I also like drizzling this Fudge Topping over my dessert to make it even more decadent, but this one completely optional!
Finally, I also included both the speedy version of this dessert and the version where this dessert will hold for up to 24 hours. The latter version could be made in advance and enjoyed whenever you’re ready for it!
- 1 egg white
- 2 tsp sugar or erythritol
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp powdered gelatin**
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp Fudge Topping*
- In a medium-size bowl whip the egg white until the soft peaks form. Add the sugar, one teaspoon at a time as you continue whipping. Whip until the meringue holds stiff peaks.
- Pour 2 tbsp of hot water over the gelatin and stir until the gelatin is completely diluted in the water.
- Fold the diluted gelatin, vanilla extract and cocoa powder into the egg whites and gently stir everything together making sure that the gelatin, cocoa, vanilla and meringue are completely incorporated.
- Stick your meringue mixture in the fridge, leaving it uncovered to prevent the water condensation that may cause the meringue to lose its volume.
- Enjoy whenever you're ready for your luxury, healthy treat! If desired drizzle some Hot Fudge Topping over your dessert to make it even more decadent!
**For the speedy version of this dessert just omit the gelatin. Just keep in mind that in this instance you should be ready to enjoy your dessert right away, because if the meringue isn't set with the gelatin it will lose its volume overtime.
*Drizzling the fudge over your dessert is optional, but it does make it look really decadent! You can find the recipe for the Fudge Drizzle in this Healthy Hot Fudge Cake Recipe post.
*To cut the calories of the Fudge Drizzle down you can also substitute the date syrup in the recipe for 0-calorie erythritol.
