Hi, My Friend!
How are you doing these (still) hot summer days? Because it IS still summer here in LA with the temperatures averaging in 90-100F…
But… no, I’m not going to discuss the weather today with you! (Although I’d like it to COOL DOWN a little, please!!! 🙂 )
Today I want to talk about what these high temperatures have been causing to us… And in particular – to our appearance! And… to be even more particular… I want to talk about our poor sensitive skin having become all DRIED out and dehydrated toward the end of a hot summer!
And finally I want to share one little, but important secret, – my personal way of dealing with the drying skin and making sure that it doesn’t get completely dehydrated. Because if our skin becomes all dried out we may start noticing those little wrinkles and lines showing on our faces… And we DON’T WANT THAT!!!
And… no, I won’t be talking about the importance of applying a SUNSCREEN here. Because I am confident that you’ve been making sure that you never go out in the sun without first putting it on!
So what’s that super-important secret that I got? Well, how about I’ll just show you what’s in my cosmetic bag, the one that I always carry in my purse, so that you can see what I’m talking about…So, here is what I always keep in my cosmetic bag. These items are all that I need to always have handy wherever I go.
As you can see I have some of the same stuff that any other girl probably has in her cosmetic bag: some hair ties, a comb, a mirror, my favorite lipstick, a hand lotion…
And… I also got these little jars… And it’s these jars that I want to tell you all about. Because they hold my little-big secret to the all-day dewiness! What’s in these jars? Well, I’ll share my secret with you! 🙂
But first, why the little jars? Well, because they are little! And light, and super-easy to always carry around with me! You can get these little sample jars in any department store. And since I like trying new skincare and make-up products I always ask for a sample of something in places like Macy’s, Bloomingdales or Nordstrom’s. And they’ll just give it to me in a little jar like this.
And when I’m done with the sample of that product, I don’t throw these little jars out. I clean them, fill them up with my own products and put them in my cosmetic bag.So here is what I fill these little jars with:
Jar#1 (Actually I usually have two little jars with this same thing in my bag. It’s because that thing is important. And I don’t want to run out of it!): These jars hold a few dollops of my favorite everyday face cream! I always apply this cream in the morning. But (HERE IT COMES: THE LITTLE-BIG SECRET!) my skin DRIES UP from the wind, sun, accidental rubbing against a scarf or against my hair, wiping it with a napkin or from the basic moisture evaporation. Because the water (the moisture that makes our skin so dewy!) evaporates from any surface. Our skin isn’t an exception.
By the mid-afternoon I can usually FEEL my skin getting dry, rough and dehydrated. So then I just go ahead and apply my moisturizer from this little jar! And I can do it anywhere – in my car, on the run, even in in a coffee shop. Because all I need to do is to dip my finger in this little jar and smear some of my moisturizer all over my face. And… instantly, INSTANTLY my skin feels so much better! It almost feels like it’s been given a much-needed “drink”! Sometimes, if I’ve just wiped my lips with a napkin or if my skin starts feeling dry again I reapply my moisturizer a few times a day. And it always works wonders!Jar#2 holds a dollop of my sunscreen. Because once again, I don’t want to carry the whole sunscreen bottle all around with me. The little sample jar is super-easy to carry and this way if I get out in the sun after a few hours of being somewhere indoors – I know that I don’t have any excuses to not reapply my sunscreen!
Jar#3. This one holds some facial oil. I don’t always carry it around with me. And if when I do put it in my bag, I always make sure (a warning here!) that I’ve closed it tightly and that it doesn’t leak. Because the facial oil MAY leak out if you aren’t careful. But when it’s as dry and hot outside as it is now in LA, the contents of this little jar really work WONDERS!!! So, when my skin feels completely dried out, here is what I do:
- I splash some water all over my face.
- I seal that moisture with some facial oil. This combination is like a mini-facial. (People actually ask me sometimes if I’ve just gotten a facial. But no, I simply did just that: splashed some water on my face and sealed it with the oil!) And I’m telling you, guys, for an extra-dry skin this really works!
And finally Jar#4. Once again, I don’t always carry it around. In fact, I RARELY carry it around. I just decided to include it since sometimes it’s a good idea to take it along too. This jar holds some foundation. And although I don’t use it every day (or every week!) when I go to some kind of an important event where I want to look my best, I like taking some extra foundation with me in case if I accidentally rub my face against my hair or my clothing, or if I wipe some of the foundation off my face with a napkin. Because then I can always reapply a little bit of it to make sure that my skin looks perfect!…Because why else would you have a beautiful skin if you don’t get to showcase it every once in while?
… Just kidding!!!! 🙂 You want to be beautiful for YOURSELF! To feel good! Because feeling good is what’s important! And… well, OK, to showcase it sometimes… Because… Showcasing feels good, too… Doesn’t it?
🙂
Wow! What a great idea!!
