Do you think that losing weight will make you more attractive?
OK, let me rephrase it: have you ever wanted to “finally loose those extra pounds” to become the “best” possible, prettiest version of yourself?
A-ha! Got-ya! 🙂
Do you know how I know that you thought about this? I was there and done that! As many other women I though that “on that very day when I finally see the desired number on the scale, then… then… My life will suddenly be SO COOL! Because then… I will be my most attractive self!”
Did I lose weight and got down to that number? Yes!
Did it make me healthier? When I lost a few pounds to become more energetic and active – yes! But when I lost lots of weight due to my postpartum depression issues (I lost appetite and didn’t want to eat much) – then it was a definite no!
But did losing weight automatically made me the most the “attractive” version of myself? Well… the short answer is NO!
The long answer is… well, let’s discuss it…
WHY SKINNY IS NOT ATTRACTIVE
OK, so who do you think is more attractive?
- A skinny, sickly, angry, bitter lady who’s also not very well groomed?
- A full-bodied, but generally healthy, kind, spiritual, giving, happy, and well-dressed woman who always makes you feel good when you’re in her company?
I’m guessing we’re agreeing on this one: it’s definitely the #2! Right?
But why? What are the things that make the second lady so much more attractive?
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU ATTRACTIVE
Being Healthy
Skinny is always healthy. And for that very reason it does NOT look good! (I can tell you this from my experience! When I was skinny and sickly I was surely not attractive! Grayish skin and a frown – I looked like a ghost! )
But being overweight isn’t healthy either! This is why I believe that if you have an either side of the weight-chart issues – you do not look your best!
But what makes me believe that being healthy plays a huge role in being attractive? Here’s my reason why.
What makes others become attracted by you?
A lot of it is your ability to perform! It’s how capable you are to care about that other person! It’s about you being in good SHAPE to give, to share, to be there for them!
See, I believe that being attractive is not so much about YOU!
It’s about what you can do for that other person; it’s about what you can GIVE!
Can you be there for someone else if you are not healthy? That’s right: no!
Can you perform well for the others when you feel good, whether at 100 or 150 lb.? Yes! Right?
So, with that said, will losing weight make you attractive? It will, if it’ll make you HEALTHIER! That’s what it really is about. Not about how low the number on your scale is!
How You Present Yourself
A well-groomed, clean, stylishly dressed girl is always attractive! Why?
It’s because by “taking good care about herself” she really cares about the others!
She wants to be a pleasure to be around!
She also understands that looking good is a big part of how other people feel in her company!
The way she dresses, looks and smells – all these things can make others feel a certain way when they interact with you! The more you care about their feelings – the more attractive you’re going to be to them!
Your Personality
The most important part!
Or at least that’s what I believe based on my own experience and on me researching this topic! 🙂 (After all I do have a BA in Sociology) 🙂
While your health and your looks make you physically attractive, your personality is what truly helps you connect with people!
Your personality is how you treat others. It’s your views and core values that are reflected in all your actions.
It’s what you do and what you’re willing to do for the others!
Now, because as people we’re all different, some of our values and beliefs are different as well… That’s why we cannot be truly attractive to everyone…
Yet, at the same time there are a few fundamental values that most people are attracted to. These are the kindness and the belief in the importance of caring about other people’s lives and feelings.
Now, I know this sounds a bit too “deep”! But the bottom line here is that who you are can ultimately make you the most attractive version of yourself, defeating even such physical factors as age, weight or disposition!
The Recap:
So, will losing weight make you attractive? Being skinny alone won’t! But being a healthy weight (not overweight, but not underweight either) along with being well-groomed, joyful, kind, and attentive to the needs, interests, and feelings of the others will definitely make you the most attractive version of yourself!
I completely agree, healthy is more than weight it’s about the big picture and your overall wellbeing. For me, healthy is about being able to go for a runm but I know I won’t win any races! It’s about walking the dog without being out of breath and enjoying a hike and being able to do it!
